WE GOT ISSUES! is designed to encourage young women’s leadership by tapping into the transformative power of creative expression, and unleashing the voice of a new feminine generation.

Calling artists, activists, educators, and social entrepreneurs!
We are looking for young women who are interested in transforming themselves and the world through art, activism, and community involvement. We want powerful women who care about making a difference in the world, hold a deep desire to contribute to themselves and other young women, are passionate about cultivating their own dreams, visions, goals, and are committed to encouraging and supporting the dreams of other young women.OVERVIEW OF LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
INSTITUTE FOR YOUNG WOMENThe WGI! Institute will span 12 months and embody a rigorous leadership development curriculum that integrates a new brand of art and social/political activism.
This Institute offers a structured environment to support the creation, cultivation and integration of arts, activism and transformative leadership. Activities include, storytelling, community dialogues, music, movement, fierce guest speakers, intensive coaching by professionals, and peer evaluations.REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must:
-Be between the ages of 18-35yrs
-Attend and participate in each of the scheduled Institute sessions, and assignments (in its entirety)
-Be involved in an organization, project, program or initiative that in some way impacts an issue and/or or community that the applicant cares about and be willing to work on that project as part of their civic engagement requirement.REQUIRED DATES TO ATTEND INSTITUTE
October 2-4, 2008
March 12th-15th, 2009
September 24th-27th, 2009
*Participants must stay overnight at each institute sessions. Lodging accommodations are provided. All Institutes occur in New York.OUR COMMITMENT
In 12 months, participants who play full out will undergo intensive positive transformation and will walk away with concrete manifestations, like:
- A clear vision for their leadership
- A blueprint for manifesting their desired project with real strategies for fulfilling feasible project goals.
- Innovative practices for integrating a model of art as activism into any project or endeavor.
- Strengthened personal power to allow for creating the life you desire.
HOW TO APPLY
-Download the application form HERE, type directly on it, and email it back. Please answer each question using 150 words max. for your responses in each section.
- In addition, please submit 150 word synopsis of a project or intended project.
-Email completed application to wegotissues@gmail.com
-DEADLINE: June 5th and June 20th, 2008.
-Upon reviewing applications, We Got Issues! will select 30 young women for interviews. We will conduct two rounds of interviews:First round interview dates: Week of June 23rd, 2008
Second round interview dates: Week of July 14th, 2008
Notification of Acceptance: End of July, 2008
A total of 16 applicants will be accepted for the Institute.TUITION
Tuition for the WGI! Leadership Institute is $3,000, which is all-inclusive and includes lodging, food, and all training materials, and coaching sessions with institute facilitators.
Partial and full scholarships as well as sponsorship support is available.
